Will getting a tattoo on the side of my neck hurt?

I recently got over my depression and have been thinking for a week or two that i want to get a tattoo on the side of my neck saying "Dead Memories" in Edwardian Script ITC font. I have heard lots of different things about the pain involved with neck tattoos. When i went to a parlour today, the guy asked me 4 times whether i "really" wanted it there for my very first tattoo, this guy has 2 sleeve tattoos and is weary of getting his neck done. I have a bit of a tolerance for pain, I'm not quite sure how high but today i grabbed a pair of tweezers and just dragged the pointed tip across my neck with a bit of pressure behind it. It does hurt but i think i could probably take a little more pain before i start to hurt too much. would just really like to know what it will feel like so i know what to expect. one of my friends said that it will feel like a hot knife (not the blade but the squarish side) digging in and being dragged but I'm not sure of his pain tolerance.
