What is he thinking???

We are fourteen, in ninth grade, and i have no idea what he is thinking. I think he is cute, and i want to ask him to sadies, but i dont wanna get rejected. He is really shy talking to girls in general, and never looks girls in the eyes when they talk to him. He is really loud around guys, they dont even have to be his friends. He talks to guys normally, but it seems like he cant talk to girls. I am just wondering if he likes me in particular. He sits next to me in one of my cles, and he stares at me a lot. I act like i dont notice, but i can see him looking at me out of the corner of my eye. He also puts his arms on his desk to the side facing me, and stretches his back by twisting his torso towards me. He never twists his torso to the other side though, he used to, but lately he only twists towards me, and i feel like he looks at me when he does this. I am really confused if he likes me. One time, i saw him whisper something to his friend, looking right at me, and his friends smiled at me...like a knowing smile. I said hi to him in the hallways one time when he was surrounded by his guy friends and he only nodded in response....What is he thinking? What do you think he said to his friend? Thanks :)
